Aphorisms and quotes have the magical power to encapsulate a strong and emotional thought in a few words. Here is a list of beautiful short phrases selected by me to find your inspiration.
Words have their own specific weight: they can hurt you, cheer you up, or simply make you think.
Just as I always look for sources of inspiration, which I can cling to whenever I feel the need: books, podcast or whatever else can give me a positive stimulus to regain determination, willpower and, why not, a fair amount of serenity.
Among my favorites are those quotes that are short but have deep meaning, those that in a handful of words deliver a powerful message and can make a difference in the way you face your day.
In this article I have chosen to group the best short beautiful phrases related to the sphere of success and growth, in private life but especially in work. They concern all those aspects that I consider indispensable for anyone who wants to put themselves out there and achieve their goals: wisdom, determination, courage, commitment and mindset.
I have divided them into precisely these categories to aid your understanding, and for each I have also added my own personal food for thought.
My wish is that they may come in handy whenever you are looking for a motto to make your own, an aphorism to share with others, or inspiration to tackle your next challenge.
Short beautiful sentences to inspire you
It is not necessarily necessary to use a lot of words to convey an important message. The simplicity, at times, is much more eloquent.
Do you agree?
Short quotations often express a real state of mind and invite you to reflect on life and how to deal with it. They can be teaching and help you make the right decision, simply by showing you a different point of view.
Many have been said and written throughout history, beautiful phrases whose meaning and depth have remained intact despite the passage of time.
Here is a selection of them all for you!
Beautiful short sentences about wisdom
Knowledge is power. (Francis Bacon)
Doubt grows with knowledge. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
The only true wisdom is to know that you know nothing. (Socrates)
Yes, I believe this is precisely one of the secrets of successful people: never feeling like you have arrived. Being hungry, as the good old Steve Jobs, is an indispensable condition for you to achieve the results you desire in your life.
Knowledge is power, because it allows you to have all the tools at your disposal to juggle any field. At the same time, the ability to doubt what you know allows you to open your mind and always look at things from a different perspective.
Mind you, this does not mean not having confidence in your thoughts: you must always know how to strike a good balance between believing in the value of what you know and being able to question yourself.
Short beautiful sentences about courage
Only those who dare to do so fly. (Luis Sepùlveda)
It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. (Edward Estlin Cummings)
To exist, is to dare to throw oneself into the world. (Simone De Beauvoir)
You do one thing every day that scares you. (Mark Twain)
That's right: if you keep doing the same things every single day, I'm afraid you can't get too far.
You know what?
That having the courage to try and being aware of the risk of failure is one of the hardest things you can do.
I don't know whether it's pride or fear of others' judgment, but it seems that our minds are precisely designed to make us instinctively avoid the most uncertain situations.
Yet, again to use a quote, he who does not laugh does not laugh: it takes courage to jump into something unknown-always, of course, balanced by a good dose of awareness.
Beautiful short sentences about determination
No matter how slow you go, the important thing is not to stop. (Confucius)
The secret to moving forward is to get started. (Mark Twain)
Fall seven times, get up eight. (Japanese proverb)
To believe you can is to be halfway there already. (Theodore Roosevelt)
Don't wait. The time will never be right. (Napoleon Hill)
The art of winning is learned in defeat. (Simon Bolivar)
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door. (Milton Berle)
If not us, who? If not now, when? (John F. Kennedy)
Determination always has to do with what I was telling you just now: aiming straight at goals, overcoming obstacles, and not being afraid to take the next step also means being courageous in facing what comes your way.
The point here is to do what you want regardless of whether conditions are favorable to you: the right time is always now, the important thing is to take the first step and climb one step at a time until you reach the top.
And from there on, remind yourself every single day of the reason why you get out of bed and invest all your resources and energy in what you believe in -- without letting yourself get too depressed by the difficulties you encounter that challenge you.
In short, onward and upward!
Short beautiful sentences about commitment
The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. (Les Brown)
The genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work. (Albert Einstein)
The best way to do something is to do it. (Amelia Earhart)
It matters what you do, not what you say. (Cesare Pavese)
The future depends on what you do today. (Mahatma Gandhi)
I'll tell you one thing: I know quite a few people who complain about their situation, envy those who they think have more, and claim that they have dreams that are too big to be realized.
Basically, they live in the constant belief of "I would like to, but I can't" or "I don't have or haven't had the opportunities that others have."
And you know what I think?
That this is one of the biggest lies one can tell oneself.
The great enemy of failure to achieve a goal is often just one: laziness.
It is easy to complain about the achievements of others-the fact is, however, that one ignores the hard work, commitment and sacrifices that went into achieving them.
Rolling up your sleeves and working hard is definitely not the only ingredient in a recipe for success, but it is the starting point, without which it does not even pay to wear an apron (if you know what I mean).
Nice short sentences on mindset
Fun is serious business. (Italo Calvino)
He who never laughs is not a serious person. (Fryderyk Chopin)
Choose to be optimistic. It feels better. (Dalai Lama)
Things do not change; it is we who change. (Henry David Thoreau)
It doesn't matter where you come from, it matters where you are going. (Ella Fitzgerald)
Do not fear perfection. You will never reach it. (Salvador Dalí)
It always seems impossible until it is done. (Nelson Mandela)
Okay: wisdom, courage, determination and commitment are necessary to see your expectations of success met, but on top of all that you also need a flexible mind and the ability to manage emotions to your advantage.
Taking everything too seriously, as important as it may be, often becomes an anchor that slows you down on the path; being able to always see the positive side of every situation, as well as changing course as needed, are two skills you can train and develop-even if they do not naturally belong to you.
This, I am sure, can make a difference along your path!
So what do you think?
Is there any sentence that struck you in particular?
If so, I suggest you write it down somewhere--on the screen of your phone, on a post-it note to stick on the refrigerator, or in your personal agenda.
That way, whenever you feel the need, you can go and read it.
